What is Invisalign?

Invisalign treatment utilizes a series of custom-crafted aligners to gently and strategically place pressure on your teeth to move them into their ideal positions. They’re made from a clear, FDA-approve, BPA-free plastic that fits snugly over your gums and teeth. The trays are similar to a retainer, and treatment plans are made for each unique patient’s smile.

How Does Treatment Work?

Invisalign aligner

The first step in the process of starting Invisalign treatment is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Stapleton. He’ll conduct an examination of your mouth to determine if you’re a good candidate for aligners. This free consultation includes complimentary x-rays, photos, and an iTero Digital Impression! Dr. Stapleton will listen to your expectations and review your current conditions to come up with a personalized Invisalign treatment plan that addresses your needs. Using our state-of-the-art technology, we are able to show you a 3D rendering of your straightened teeth, instantly. Your treatment plan will be given to you and will include the estimated treatment time and procedure cost. We will verify your insurance coverage and give you different payment options that suit your personal budget. All within this free quick consultation.

Typically, we receive your first set of custom aligners about 4 weeks after we send in the impression we take at the office. Each set of trays, you’ll wear for two weeks. Once you’re ready for a new set, you’ll just pop by our office for a quick visit so we can check on the progress you’re making and give you the next series of trays. You’ll continue this process until you don’t have any left, and then wear a retainer for a time period that we recommend so your teeth don’t shift back into their previous positions.

Why do I need Invisalign?

Proper alignment can stop chipping and wearing of teeth, prevent enamel erosion and damage to the root of your tooth, enhance the health of your gums and oral hygiene, and improve confidence in your smile. Addressing the alignment of your teeth also has the benefit of creating a harmonious relationship between the teeth, jaw, and facial muscles for an overall healthier and more comfortable bite.

If you have poorly aligned teeth or certain bite issues (over-, under-, or crossbite), Invisalign from our cosmetic dentist can improve your smile with minimal interruption to your daily activities—and without others even noticing you are undergoing treatment.

What are the Benefits of Invisalign?

Most patients choose Invisalign treatment over traditional braces because they offer a slew of benefits. The most common reason that patients gravitate towards this modern orthodontic solution is because of the clear plastic that they’re made from which makes them hardly noticeable. Some other benefits include:

  • Maintain Your Oral Hygiene Easier. When you brush your teeth and floss, all you have to do is take your aligners out. This means you won’t have to maneuver between wires and brackets and can more effectively keep up with your oral hygiene.
  • A Treatment for Patients of All Ages. Invisalign is safe for children, teenagers, and adults. If you have questions about whether it’s the right option for you, it’s best to visit us for a consultation.
  • Shorter Treatment Time. The average Invisalign treatment lasts anywhere between eight and 14 months, which is significantly shorter than metal braces.
  • No Uncomfortable Appointment. Instead of having to go get your braces tightened frequently, you’ll just have to pop over for a short appointment to pick up your new set of trays.

We don’t want to make patients feel like they have to choose between an improved smile and the conveniences of their everyday life. That’s why we recommend seeing if Invisalign treatment is the right choice for you. With this subtle, fast, and effective solution, you’ll be able to get the beautiful grin that you’ve been dreaming about, just call us today!

How long does Invisalign take?

For most patients who have never received orthodontic treatment, it will typically take about one year to fully straighten the teeth and correct the bite. For patients who are trying to correct a relapse from previous orthodontic treatment, or patients who are trying to correct mildly crowded teeth, treatment time is no longer than 6 months! At MDRN Dental, using our advanced accelerated techniques, aligners can be switched every 7 days! This leads to tremendously shortened treatment times!

What does Invisalign cost?

Invisalign FAQs

Do you still have questions about getting Invisalign in Houston? It’s one of the most popular treatments among teenagers and adults who want to have a healthier and more beautiful smile. Without using uncomfortable metal wires and brackets, Dr. Stapleton is able to shift unruly pearly whites that are crowded and crooked into their ideal positions. For your convenience, we’ve answered some of the most common questions we receive from our patients about Invisalign below.

Does it hurt to wear Invisalign aligners?

You’ve probably heard from your friends who have had traditional braces how uncomfortable and even painful it was to live with them. If this has been dissuading you from straightening your smile, you’ll be happy to know that a majority of patients that receive Invisalign treatment don’t feel discomfort or pain throughout the process.

Each of your aligners will be made from high-quality, smooth plastic that will be customized to fit the unique structure of your mouth for maximized comfort. The only time you may notice some soreness is when you switch to a new tray. It may take a day or two to get used to the new amount of pressure being placed on your teeth; however, you can avoid a majority of this adjustment period by switching aligners at night so you sleep through most of it.

How do I clean my Invisalign aligners?

Keeping your Invisalign trays clean will keep you from developing any oral health problems while you’re undergoing treatment. Dried saliva, food particles, and harmful bacteria can cause common problems such as cavities to occur, which may interfere with your timeline. The best way to sanitize and clean your trays is to:

  • Soak them in a 50/50 mixture of water and vinegar for 15-minutes.
  • Continue brushing and flossing your teeth every day.
  • Using a soft-bristled toothbrush and clear antibacterial soap, scrub your aligners every day.
  • Rinse your aligners after each time you take them out to eat.

What should I do if I damage an aligner?

If you’ve lost or damaged an aligner, it’s important to handle the problem quickly. The longer you wait to notify your dentist in Houston, the further you’ll set back your treatment timeline. Dr. Stapleton understands that accidents can happen, especially when you’re not quite used to handling your trays every day. If you find yourself in this situation, here’s what you should do:

  • Don’t advance to your next series of aligners yet.
  • Schedule an appointment with Dr. Stapleton.
  • Work with your dentist to find a solution.

You can keep this situation from occurring by carrying around your hard storage case wherever you go. That way, you’ll always have a safe place to store them to avoid accidentally throwing them away or misplacing them.

Do I need to wear a retainer after Invisalign treatment?

Just like with traditional braces, you’ll need to wear a retainer after you finish your Invisalign treatment. This will help keep your straightened teeth from slowly drifting back into their original positions and erasing all of the progress you’ve made. When you get closer to your last set of trays, Dr. Stapleton will discuss retainer options and details with you.
