Does Zoom!® Teeth Whitening use a light?

Yes, Philips Zoom! ® Teeth Whitening is light activated! Zoom is a whitening gel that is applied to your teeth. Once applied, an activating light is applied in 15minute sessions. The light is turned on and activates the gel and the teeth whitening process begins. The light is kept on the teeth during the entire session.

What is the process of Zoom Whitening?

First, we shade match the current color of your teeth. Pictures are then taken to document the pretreatment shade of your teeth; we compare these to the after pictures later. The teeth are then isolated to make sure that no gel is applied to the gums or surrounding tissue. Once isolation is obtained, the gel is applied to the teeth and the light is applied in three 15-minute sessions. Once a session is complete, the gel suctioned off, new gel is applied, and the light is placed on again. Most patients find that two 15-minute sessions are enough to achieve the whiteness they are looking for, however some patients may opt to sit through the third session. Once finished, the gel is removed as well as all isolation. Lastly, pictures are taken with a new matched shade. The shade and pictures are then compared to the pretreatment photos
